Activity Introduction

Tainan City is committed to building a development environment that lays the foundation for Asia's smart and knowledge-based digital economy, based on the concept of "New Economy, New Homeland." From the diverse perspectives of the city government team and public participation, it explores the aspects of Tainan City that are of common concern to both the city government and its citizens.Smart epidemic prevention, smart tourism, smart transportationThe hackathon addresses three key areas, calling on startups, students, industry professionals, and individuals to form teams and develop solutions using AI applications. Leveraging open data and cloud resources, the event will employ workshops and a series of AI courses to foster in-depth discussions on the problems and potential solutions, ultimately focusing on finding optimal solutions. All citizens, data owners, data scientists, domain experts, AI startups, and university students are welcome to participate. We look forward to working with you to create a better and more fulfilling urban life for our citizens.

Activity Rules

The activities are divided into the following categories:Idea Creation: Question Setting Stage"", "Concept Creation: Problem Solving Phase - Book Review"", "Creating a Solution: Problem-Solving Phase - Practical Application"The three-stage approach, through activity websites and workshops, supplemented by in-person and online AI education and training, helps hackers acquire sufficient knowledge and skills to complete the tasks at each stage."

Idea Creation: Question Setting Stage

  • In response to the three themes of "smart epidemic prevention, smart tourism, and smart transportation," the city government team simultaneously called on all citizens to participate and propose issues and ideas to help optimize and improve related theme venues in Tainan City, so that Tainan citizens can embrace a smart and happy life.
  • Citizens whose proposals are selected will receive a gift certificate worth NT$2,000, and will be invited to participate in a one-day workshop on "Creating a Concept: Problem Solving - Book Review" and receive a certificate of appreciation from the Tainan City Government.

Concept Creation: Problem Solving Phase - Book Review

Applicants:

  • There are no restrictions on participants, but each problem-solving team should consist of 2-5 people. Participants are not allowed to register for multiple problems or change teams arbitrarily. However, each team may only apply for one problem to solve.
  • If team members have participated in the "Creating Ideas: Problem Setting Stage", they can also register for the "Creating Concepts: Problem Solving Stage - Book Review".
  • Team Representative: Each team must appoint one team representative. The representative must be a resident of the Republic of China and will serve as the point of contact for communication with the organizer regarding matters related to the event.
  • Age: Those under 20 years of age must also submit a letter of consent from their legal guardian in order to participate.

Problem Solving:

The titles for the three main themes, "Smart Epidemic Prevention, Smart Tourism, and Smart Transportation," will be announced on July 18. Please refer to the latest news section.

Registration and Awards:

Registration will be open from July 18th to August 14th. Each participating team will receive a TWCC resource quota worth NT$10,000 and will be provided with an online intermediate-level training course organized by the organizer to help the problem-solving hacking teams understand the various services and UI operation of TWCC.

Workshop content:

Time: August 20th (Saturday) 09:00-12:00
Location: 3F, C-Hub National Cheng Kung University Creative Base (No. 1, University Road, East District, Tainan City, entrance is located at the intersection of Qianfeng Road and Xiaodong Road).
Content: A "One-Day Workshop" will be held, inviting selected hackers (including those from the city government and citizens) who submitted questions to participate in the problem-solving hacker team. They will engage in in-depth discussions on the possible development of problems and solutions, focusing on enabling the problem-solving hackers to propose the best possible solutions.

Submit the business plan:

Please submit your proposal by September 7th using the method specified by the organizer. The proposal should be a 10-page PDF file with a file size not exceeding 20 MB.

Selection criteria:

The judges used "Project Innovation (20%)", "Project Feasibility (30%)", "Relevance to Social Needs (30%)" and "Proposal Diffusionability (20%)" as scoring criteria to select 10 teams to enter the "Solution Creation: Problem Solving Stage - Implementation" competition. The judging results will be announced on the event website's latest news section on September 20.

Creating a Solution: Problem-Solving Phase - Practical Application

Participation in awards and educational training:

The 10 shortlisted problem-solving hacking teams will each receive an additional TWCC resource quota worth NT$50,000. Through online advanced education and training courses planned by the organizer, such as GPU containerization environment performance improvement and HPC cross-node high-speed computing, AI/ML automated processes, etc., the problem-solving hackers will become familiar with the practical operation of various TWCC services and tools, achieving twice the result with half the effort.

Submission briefing:

Please upload and submit your presentation file by October 20th using the method specified by the organizer.

Problem-solving final selection day:

Time: October 26 (Wednesday) 09:00-13:30
Location: 3F, C-Hub National Cheng Kung University Creative Base (No. 1, University Road, East District, Tainan City, entrance is located at the intersection of Qianfeng Road and Xiaodong Road).
Each team will have 6 minutes for presentation and 6 minutes for Q&A. The judges will score the teams based on the following criteria: "Project Innovation (15%)", "Project Feasibility (15%)", "Relevance to Social Needs (15%)", "Implementation Validation Results (50%)" and "Presentation Performance (5%)". Six outstanding teams and four honorable mention teams will be selected. The Deputy Mayor of Tainan City will attend the awards ceremony. The winners of the top six teams will be announced by the organizers on the event website.

Prizes for winning teams:

The six selected teams will receive a certificate of excellence from the city government, a TWCC cloud resource quota of NT$500,000 per team, 2TB of ASUS cloud storage per person per year, job matching opportunities with ASUS Group, and opportunities to collaborate on AI smart applications with the Tainan City Government. The reward resources are valid for one year and will expire after that period.

    1. Hackers participating in solving the problem (hereinafter referred to as participants) are not allowed to register for multiple teams or change their group on the day of the event.
    2. Entries must be original, unpublished works. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited and must not violate intellectual property laws. Violators will be disqualified. If the original author discovers and objects to such an entry, the participant will be held legally responsible for any copyright infringement. Entrants are prohibited from transferring or selling the copyright of their submitted work under any circumstances to impersonate another person. Violators will be disqualified, their prizes and awards will be revoked, and their names will be publicly announced. They will be solely responsible for any legal consequences arising from their actions.
    3. Entrants are prohibited from submitting entries that are reproduced, copied, synthesized, plagiarized, stolen, copied from others, or that violate social morality and customs. If any violation is found to be true, the entrant will be disqualified from the competition and from winning any prizes or awards. The prize money and certificates will be recovered, and the award will not be awarded to another entrant.
    4. All registration information must be accurate and complete; impersonation or theft of any third party's information is strictly prohibited. The organizer reserves the right to disqualify any participant from winning any prizes for providing false or incorrect information. All members of the participating team shall bear all legal responsibility for any damages caused to the rights and interests of the organizer or any other third party.
    5. The name and other information on the certificate will be based on the information provided during registration. If there are any errors in the information provided, please contact the contact person immediately.
    6. For the purposes of participant management, registration management, identity verification during the event, event communication, prize delivery, event-related information communication, and related administrative operations, the organizer may collect, process, and use the personal data of participating team members.
    7. By registering for the competition, you agree to respect the judging rules and results, and you may not raise any objections to the judging results.
    8. Prize winners must complete a receipt and provide a copy of their identity card in order to claim their prize.
    9. Any disputes regarding the division of labor or allocation of rights within the participating teams (such as the receipt and distribution of prize money) should be handled by the teams themselves and are not related to the organizers.
    10. If the number of proposals or participating teams fails to meet expectations before the deadline for each stage of the competition, the organizer may cancel or extend the event, or adjust the number of proposals or selected teams, and will announce such changes on the event webpage.
    11. By participating, participants agree to and accept all the provisions of these rules. The organizer reserves the right to make final interpretations, amendments, changes and cancellations of the event for any matters not covered herein, and will announce such changes on the event website.
    12. The free high-speed computing resources provided during this event may not be used outside the scope of this event. If any illegal activities are involved, the organizer may recover them and cooperate with the investigative authorities to provide relevant information.
    13. The organizers will adjust the event schedule and the method of organizing physical activities on a rolling basis depending on the development of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Intellectual Property Rights Statement

  1. The participating teams guarantee that the information provided to this event, including but not limited to the submitted works, images, texts, presentations, videos and other materials, does not infringe on the intellectual property rights or other rights of others or violate any laws.
  2. The intellectual property rights of the submitted works (synopsis or video) belong to the participating team or individual members. Teams selected for the finals agree to grant the organizer or co-organizer a free license to use, without limitation on region, time, frequency, and non-profit methods (including but not limited to printing, display, promotion, reporting, publication, or public disclosure), all texts, presentations, photographs, audio-visual materials, and other materials provided for participation in this event (excluding the names and images of team members, but excluding the programs, software, and systems produced in the submission), or to sublicense them to third parties. Teams also agree that the organizer may modify, reproduce, or edit these materials and exercise all other rights enjoyed by the copyright holder under copyright law in relevant marketing media without further notice to the participating teams. Unless it involves defamation of moral character, the participating team and its members agree not to exercise moral rights against the organizer.
  3. The participating teams agree to authorize the organizers or co-organizers free of charge to take photos, record videos, or request relevant photos or videos (including but not limited to the submitted works) during the course of this event for the purpose of recording, promoting, marketing this event or related events, and to publish the aforementioned photos or videos in any form.
  4. The organizers have the right to give priority to the 10 problem-solving hacking teams whose projects are shortlisted for the "Solution Creation: Problem Solving Stage - Implementation" competition, after the list is announced, regarding the transfer or licensing of the intellectual property rights of the projects themselves and their derivatives.
