The "2022 Tainan AI Smart City Hackathon: Talent Collaboration in Technology Applications" is the first interactive hackathon competition to connect citizens, AI technology companies, and startup teams. With diverse perspectives including city government teams and public participation, and after a month of enthusiastic registration and discussion, the first phase selected 10 topics across three themes: "Smart Epidemic Prevention," "Smart Tourism," and "Smart Transportation." The second phase opened up registration to AI experts, startup teams, and university students to solve the problems. Through the creative exchange of ideas, teams developed valuable AI applications, jointly promoting the development of Tainan's smart city.
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che stated that the proposals from city government staff and citizens at this event were very enthusiastic, with excellent ideas in the areas of "smart epidemic prevention," "smart tourism," and "smart transportation." This is a good start, and everyone is even more excited for the next phase of "Concept Creation"—the problem-solving and validation results. He also hopes that this interactive model with citizens can continue, working together to protect Tainan and make it even better.
During the "Concept Creation" challenge registration phase, each participating team will receive a TWCC resource quota worth NT$10,000. The organizers will also provide online intermediate-level training courses to help the challenge hacking teams understand TWCC's various services and UI operation. In addition, a "One-Day Workshop" will be arranged, inviting selected challenge creators (including challenge creators from the city government and citizens) to participate alongside the challenge hacking teams. This workshop breaks away from traditional one-sided understanding and conceptualization, allowing both parties to deeply exchange ideas on the problems and possible solutions, focusing on enabling the challenge hackers to propose optimal solutions.
Tainan City Government Research, Development and Evaluation Committee Chairman Tai Wei-Chun stated that the ten "Creative Ideas" topics announced for the event are diverse and practical, including pedestrian flow, traffic congestion, drone applications, image recognition, road leveling, tourist guidance, tourist analysis, dengue fever, and smart health screening. He invited everyone to unleash their creativity and the infinite possibilities of AI technology applications. From now until August 14, teams can register to solve the problems and submit their optimal solution proposals.
ASUS is also offering a variety of great prizes during the event, including cloud resources worth over 3 million NTD and job matching opportunities. Please refer to the event website for more information. https://tws.twcc.ai/2022tainanhackthon/.
